These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of ETV1gene.com (ETV1 Community Beacon) (“Site,” “we,” “us”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

These Terms are a plain-language agreement for Site use and are not legal advice.

1. About the Site

The Site provides educational information and a community forum focused primarily on ETV1-related prostate cancer for patients, families, caregivers, and researchers. Adjacent ETV1 science in other diseases may appear only as background unless the operator expands scope.

The Site is operated by ETV1 Community Beacon (operator of ETV1gene.com). For policy questions, contact the site operator via the email used for your Hostinger/account correspondence until a public contact address is published on this page.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 to create an account or post.
• Minors should use the Site only with a parent or guardian as required by local law.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep credentials confidential.

3. Not medical advice

All content is educational or peer discussion only.

• The Site does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
• No doctor–patient relationship is formed by using the Site.
• Do not ignore professional medical advice or delay care because of something you read here.

User posts are opinions/experiences, not clinical recommendations.

4. Accounts and security

• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access, using the contact method described above for policy questions.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose security/safety risks.

Authentication and forum data are handled via Supabase (see Privacy Policy).

5. Community forum — user content

5.1 Your license to us

If you post content (“User Content”), you retain ownership of your rights, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Site and in related backups/moderation tools as needed to operate the community.

You represent that you have the rights to post the content and that it does not infringe others’ rights or privacy.

5.2 Public nature

Forum content may be visible to other registered users and, depending on settings, more broadly. Do not post secrets or highly sensitive identifiers.

5.3 Removal

We may remove, edit, or restrict User Content that violates these Terms, Community Guidelines, or law, or that we reasonably believe is harmful. We are not obligated to monitor every post but may moderate at our discretion.

6. Community guidelines (summary)

Full guidelines may live on a Forum Guidelines page; key rules:

1. No individualized medical advice — share experiences and questions; do not prescribe for others.
2. Cite sources when making scientific or treatment claims; distinguish anecdote from evidence.
3. Respect privacy — no doxxing; minimize identifiable health details about others.
4. No spam, scams, or unauthorized promotions (including unsolicited sales of supplements/drugs).
5. No harassment, hate, threats, or illegal content.
6. Dangerous misinformation (e.g., urging others to abandon prescribed cancer care for unproven cures) may be removed and accounts restricted.
7. Be civil — disagreement is fine; personal attacks are not.

Moderation escalation: report → volunteer/moderator review → operator decision → possible suspension. Report issues using the site operator contact method described above.

7. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Violate law or others’ rights
• Attempt unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data
• Scrape the Site in a way that overloads or bypasses access controls without permission
• Upload malware or interfere with Site operation
• Impersonate others or misrepresent affiliation
• Post content that is exploitative of minors, pornographic involving minors, or otherwise illegal
• Use the Site to market unapproved medical products in a deceptive way
• Harvest emails or personal data from other users for marketing without consent

8. Intellectual property (Site content)

Unless otherwise noted, Site design, logos, and original editorial content are owned by ETV1 Community Beacon (operator of ETV1gene.com) or its licensors. You may view and share links for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy large portions for commercial republication without written permission from the site operator (use the contact method described above).

Trademarks of third parties (e.g., drug names, company names) belong to their owners and do not imply endorsement.

9. Third-party links and services

The Site may link to external resources (papers, registries, payment pages). We are not responsible for third-party content, privacy practices, or availability. Stripe processes donations when enabled; Hostinger hosts the Site; Supabase provides backend services — each has its own terms.

10. Donations

Donation features, if shown, are voluntary. Until a live Stripe Payment Link is approved and deployed, any test links must not be used for real payments. Refund practices and tax documentation (if any) will be published when live donations are enabled. This Site does not claim 501(c)(3) or other tax-exempt status here. See also the Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT CONTENT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT, OR THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

Medical and scientific information may include errors or outdated material.

12. Limitation of liability (plain language)

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

• We (and our officers, volunteers, contractors, and contributors) are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site or reliance on any content.
• Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us (if any) in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD 100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, limits apply only to the extent allowed. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, certain liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct, where such carve-outs are required).

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify ETV1 Community Beacon (operator of ETV1gene.com) against claims arising from your User Content or your violation of these Terms. This clause may be updated after legal review.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access at any time for violation of these Terms, legal risk, or Site shutdown. You may stop using the Site and request account deletion by contacting the site operator as described above. Provisions that by nature should survive (IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination.

15. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. Continued use after the new Effective date constitutes acceptance, except where local law requires additional consent. Material changes will be noted on this page and/or via a site notice.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would require another jurisdiction’s law. (This default can be updated if the operator later publishes a more specific jurisdiction.)

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting the site operator. If informal resolution fails, disputes may be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in the United States where the Site operator resides, except where prohibited by law.

17. Miscellaneous

• If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• These Terms plus the Privacy Policy and Medical Disclaimer are the entire agreement regarding Site use, unless a separate written agreement applies.
• No waiver is continuing unless in writing.
• We may assign these Terms in connection with a reorganization of the operator.
